Volunteering

Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to others and to get connected to your community. Volunteering is encouraged for students in grade 8-12 as a means of building their capacities as citizens, collaborating with others on a kind and common goal, and gaining experience for your resumé and post-secondary/scholarship applications. Volunteering is NOT a graduation requirement.

Q.E hosts two volunteer workshops. We have partnered with Alive After 5 to ensure students are aware of their rights before going into a volunteer position. To access these opportunities, students must attend one of the following volunteer orientation workshops after school in the Library.

  1. September in the Library from 3 - 4:30 p.m.
  2. February in the Library from 3 - 4:30 p.m.

SD36 partners with Community Schools to offer secondary students a variety of safe and vetted volunteer opportunities. The Career Centre has a wide variety of external (non-partnering) volunteer leads. Students who attend orientation will also be given access to a digital hours tracking sheet and exclusive volunteer experiences. Students who engage in their own external volunteer opportunities are still advised track their hours and retain them for up to five years.

Your volunteering contact person is Mrs. De Conti.
